Although there are 7 species of lovebirds worldwide, most pets are peachface, fischers, or masked, all from Africa. Lovebirds are usually sold in pairs; one does make a charming but irascible pet. The owner of a female lovebird does not need an electric paper shredder, just let your bird shred all your paper and light cardboard. In the African jungle a bird that small would have to be very aggressive to survive and to successfully reproduce. That wild instinct for survival is what makes lovebirds so nippy and territorial about their cages. Lovebirds LOVE to play, so give them a cage at least 24x18 with lots of toys to bang, shred and swing.
